How do I teach my child multiplication tables?

Teach your children the easiest problems before moving on to the more difficult numbers in the times table. 0, 1, and 2 times tables are an excellent place to start. Students can easily see on a times table that any number times 0 equal 0, and any number times 1 equals itself. The numbers across the top and down the left side of the tables are factors, and the numbers inside the tables are products. Students learn to find a factor on the top column and trace down to the row of the second factor, the answer or product is at the intersection of the column and row. As they study multiplication tables, students will see that the products in the rows and columns for 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 alternate between even and odd numbers. With continued practice and patience, your child will be on their way to knowing their entire times tables from memory.
