What grade do you learn subtraction?

Students learn subtraction facts at the beginning of the second grade. They learn basic counting and skip counting in Kindergarten and learn that addition means adding and subtraction means to take something away. In first grade, students learn to represent and solve basic addition and subtraction equations before moving to more advanced equations in the second grade and beyond. Learning subtraction facts will help your child build a strong mathematical foundation that will allow them to succeed as they continue to learn more advanced math operations.
