At what age should a child count to 10?
The age that children learn to count can vary. Most children learn to recognize and count the numbers from 1 to 10 when they are between 2 - 3 years of age. Each child is different and will learn at their own pace. Practice with your child each day to improve their number fluency. Play games with flash cards and help your child say the number and point as they count each object on the card. Keep practice sessions with your child brief and fun. Use patience and lots of positive reinforcement as they are learning. Find ways to count everyday objects your child interacts with such as clothing, toys, and snacks.
