Flash cards are great learning tools for children and can help them to memorize and understand critical early learning concepts.  While memorization is an element in early learning, it is also important to engage your child in a multi-sensory approach.  Flash cards are more effective when the concepts your child is learning can be related to objects or activities, they may experience every day.  For example, helping them count their favorite toys as they put them away after working with number cards or naming the colors they can see in their home after reviewing color cards.  When your child experiences learning concepts through listening, sight, and touch they will build a deeper understanding of the information and how it can be applied to their world.
