How do you introduce rhymes to kindergarten?

Introduce words that rhyme to kindergarten students by showing them a word like ball.  Practice saying other words that have an ending with the -all sound such as hall, wall, tall, or fall.  Flashcards that show the word and then give examples of rhyming words are great learning tools for kindergarten students.  Read nursery rhymes together and ask your kindergartener to tell you which rhyming words they notice.  To check for fluency, ask your child to play a "fill in the blank" game.  For example, you would say "the ball hit the ______" and see if your child can find a word that rhymes with ball to complete the sentence.
